6th Grade Science
Imagination, a one-week science and math camp for rising seventh and eighth graders, introduces participants to the exciting and fun world of technology, engineering, and science … not by watching, but by doing! There will be two sessions of this day camp: July 10 – 14 and July 17 – 21. Free bus transportation is provided to and from Roanoke for the first session and to and from Martinsville for the second session. Cost is $150, but scholarships are available. While this is a day camp, we have students who stay with friends and family, rent/share hotel rooms or Airbnb, stay in RV’s and even camp! The deadline for application is April 28, 2017.

The program is open to all students but especially inviting to those who would like first hand experience in biomedical, nursing, medical career field, or any other aspect of health care as well as insight into the military or the hospitality industry.

Battlefield High School's Science National Honor Society is hosting a Family Science Night which will take place on Friday February 17th from 6-8pm at Battlefield High School.
This is a free event for all students and families. The students will have the opportunity to do hand-on activities and witness a variety of science demonstrations in the areas of biology, chemistry, physics and earth science. All students must be accompanied by an adult.

Young Scientist Challenge Opens, Entries Due by April 19
The Discovery Education 3M Young Scientist Challenge 2017 is open to students in grades 5–8. Top prize includes $25,000, a trip to 3M’s global headquarters to work alongside leading scientists, and the coveted title, America’s Top Young Scientist.

Kids’ Tech University
Kids' Tech University is a semester-long educational research program developed by the Biocomplexity Institute and Virginia 4-H, that puts scientists and engineers in front of children to encourage the exploration of intriguing topics in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
On Jan. 21, Feb. 18, March 18 and April 1, 2017, 450 kids (ages 9-12 by Sept. 31st 2016) and their parents will come to Virginia Tech (Blacksburg, VA) to watch Interactive Sessions by renowned research scientists and participate in hands-on activities. Each day's events will center on common themes related to everyday life. Registration opened on Oct. 24, 2016 at 6 pm. There is a $100 registration fee and scholarships are available.
