Hello All!
I hope you all are staying healthy and safe at home!
I have found myself passing the time in several ways. I've tried lots of new recipes (some successful and others not so much), taken walks with Luna (she NEEDS to get out her pent up energy somehow), saved the world from the Santa Blanca Cartel (I've recently gotten into a video game called Ghost Recon: Wildlands), watched a shameful amount of Netflix and Disney+, shocker here...I've been doing some MAJOR reading (did you expect any other answer from your Language Arts teacher..?).

I do miss seeing your faces in class and I think about you and your well being often. I also miss seeing the other teachers at Bull Run as I am sure you miss seeing your friends. These are pretty strange times to be sure. However, I cannot help but to quote Albus Dumbledore ( should not be surprised about this). "Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, when one only remembers to turn on the light." Therefore, keep those lights on and find the time to do what brings you happiness.

Now, to get to those things that can help you continue to learn (and fight the boredom) even while at home:

What are some activities I can do now?

1. READ!! Yes, your Language Arts teacher is asking you to READ!

For information about how to listen to Amazon's FREE audiobooks, click here. For information about how to access BRMS eBooks, click here.

For information about how to access PWC Library eBooks, click here.

If you don’t have a PWC library card, see information here about creating an account for a digital library card.

Go to the "Virtual Learning" tab on this webpage. There, you will find information on how to participate in the following Language Arts resources:

-Flipgrid (I'll be posting a weekly prompt for us all to respond to.)
-IXL (This is a great place to practice specific skills.)
-BrainPop (This is where you can view videos and complete activities related to LA.) (This is place where you can practice and improve your typing skills.)

My "Virtual Learning" tab might experience some additions. If it does, I'll be sure to send out an email letting everyone know.

3. Fill out the following form to let me know how you are and what you have been doing:

4. Complete the Quarter 3 Test Study Guide, SOL Review Calendar Links, and SOL Flash Cards. I know that we are most likely not going to be taking our SOL tests this year, but these are still great ways to review what we have learned in class. You can find these resources in my "Files and Documents" section. All of the activities are in the folder called "At Home Review".

5. You can also access the PWCS Online Learning website at the link below for more resources to practice at home.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Which standards have we covered in class so far?
A: If you want to know which objectives we have learned this year, you can access this information in the "Unit Plans" folder I have posted in the "Files and Documents" section. However, there is also an SOL Objectives section of my webpage where you can access this information.

Q: Do we still have to do the Book Talk you sent the email about a few weeks ago?
A: Nope. I obviously still want you reading books that you are excited to talk about. However, book talks may look a bit different now seeing as we are going digital. I've been playing around with the idea of using Flipgrid to share Book Talks, but that plan has not been finalized yet. Just check your email and my webpage for updates.

Q: Can I still send you my Tic Tac Toe projects?
A: Yes! Please do! If you have paper copies of your projects, simply take a picture of the project and email the picture to me. If your project is digital, just share it with me via email.

Q: How often will you be checking email?
A: I plan to check my email periodically Monday-Friday between the hours of 8AM-3PM. I will do my best to respond to you as quickly as possible.

Well, that is all for now. Again, please continue to check your email and this webpage for updates!

Please take care of yourselves and your families!
