Conflict Resolution Club (the application form is under the heading)
The Conflict Resolution Club helps students learn important life skills that can be used at school, at home, and in the future. Members learn how to communicate effectively, listen actively, solve problems, and manage conflict in healthy ways. Students explore their own personalities and conflict-handling styles to better understand themselves and others.
Through training and practice, club members develop critical thinking, leadership, empathy, and helping skills. Conflict Resolution Club members may also serve as peer mediators’ helpers, helping classmates work through minor conflicts and find respectful solutions. By promoting understanding, cooperation, and problem-solving, the Conflict Resolution Club supports a positive and welcoming school community where everyone can learn and grow. This aligns with PWCS's commitment to developing critical thinkers, resilient individuals, and collaborative problem-solvers
Club Extension: Peer Mediation program
At the end of the Conflict Resolution Club program, 2 to 3 students may be selected to become Peer Mediators. Students are selected based on their communication skills, commitment, and desire to help others. Selected students will receive additional training before serving as Peer Mediators.
Peer Mediation is a student-led program that helps students solve conflicts peacefully. Peer mediators do not decide who is right or wrong. Instead, they help students listen to each other, understand different points of view, and work together to find solutions.
Students who choose to become Peer Mediators are expected to serve for at least one school year after completing their training. This allows them to build confidence, gain experience, and provide consistent support to their peers.
As Peer Mediators, students create a positive school environment and support Bull Run Middle School's commitment to helping students grow socially, emotionally, and academically. They also develop important skills such as communication, leadership, critical thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving.
