Pep Band
The Bull Run Pep Band is a musical ensemble that performs at all home basketball games and other Bull Run sporting, school, and community events. We need students with school spirit ready to cheer for and support our Bull Run Eagles. Please read the information below carefully and fill out the application.
Rehearsal Information
Pep Band will rehearse every Wednesday after school from 3:00 to 4:30. A schedule, along with ongoing updates, will be posted on the Basketball Pep Band section of the BRMS website. Regular rehearsals begin Wednesday, September 13.
Regular attendance at rehearsals and performances is essential for the success of this ensemble. Attendance will be taken. Please do not commit to another club that meets on Wednesdays. Pep Band will perform at all home basketball games, and possibly other Bull Run sporting, school, and community events. The preliminary required schedule is attached. New events will be communicated at least two weeks ahead of time and could be scheduled until the end of the school year. Once basketball season ends, the rehearsal schedule will be reduced to monthly or just before performances. Three unexcused absences will result in the student’s removal from Pep Band.
Practicing outside of rehearsal is important to ensure high quality performances. Students must come to each rehearsal and performance with their music ready at the highest quality.
When pep band rehearsals are over at 4:30, students are expected to go home immediately. Students may ride the 5:00 activity bus, be picked up by a parent or guardian, or walk home if they have a “walkers pass” issued by the main office. Students who are not picked up by 4:50 will be expected to ride the activity bus home. Activity buses are listed on our school webpage as well as posted on a bulletin board outside the front office. Similarly, students must be picked up by a parent/guardian within 30 minutes of basketball games (and other events) ending. No activity bus will be offered after basketball games and students may not walk home. Students picked up late two times will no longer be in pep band.
Audition Details
Auditions will be held on Wednesday, September 6. Students will perform the following for Mr. Haupt: Concert B♭ or Concert F Scale, and a short sight-reading example. Percussion students will be asked to perform two different patterns of their choosing on drum set at various tempos. Results will be communicated to students/families within two business days.
