Meet Your Coaches
Coach Aaron Percy is a Digital Media Producer specializing in audio and music with related experience in teaching, networking, and project managment. He has previous experience mentoring First Lego League teams as a parent volunteer while simultaneously coaching Team 1489 in their '22-'23 season. He is a man of many talents, and his expansive knowledge has made him an invaluable resource for students who want to incorporate advanced materials, like custom plexiglass pieces, or students who want to use powertools safely and confidently.
Coach Samantha Rose is a US Navy Veteran with experience in cybersecurity. She relies heavily on that military experience to manufacture a low-risk environment in which students can strengthen their hard and soft skills, including drafting design concepts, problem solving, conflict management, adaptability, reasoning, attention to detail, coding lessons building to C++, time management, persuasion, critical thinking, public speaking, and networking.
Coach William Rose is a Lead Engineer specializing in software for active sonar systems and has a degree in Electrical Engineering from UVA. He mentored team 1489 as a parent volunteer in the '21-'22 season, and stepped up to coach for the '22-'23 season. He eagerly volunteered for a second year with 1489, and Coach Rose is excited to see how 1489 approaches the complex design challenges of Over Under.
